Sales of electric cars are doing well, up 28% since the start of the year. A dynamism partly fueled by expected novelties and by the usual stars of the category. Discover the top 30 electrical bestsellers with figures from NGC Data®.
Despite a complicated automobile market, marked in particular by strong constraints on production linked to shortages of semiconductors and by supply chains turned upside down by the war in Ukraine and the Covid, sales of electric cars are showing good momentum in the first half of 2022. These increased by 28% compared to the first half of 2021 to reach 93,334 registrations according to Avere-France. L’argus invites you to discover the best sales since 1is January thanks to data provided by its partner NGC Data®.
The stars of the categories firmly in place in the top 5
On the podium, the Peugeot e-208 performed well and topped sales in France with 9,712 registered registrations. For the time being, it gains two places compared to 2021. On the other two steps, the Dacia Spring (9,203 registrations) and the Fiat 500 (8,922 registrations) also confirm their popularity with buyers. The Renault Zoe and the Tesla Model 3, which were the two best sellers of 2021, are relegated to the top 5 but remain on similar volumes (respectively 8,125 and 7,804 registrations). Logical underperformance for the Model 3, which no longer benefits from the full bonus, but a little more worrying for the Zoe.
The new Renault Megane E-Tech Electric made an honorable entry into the rankings with 2,799 units on the road since its release at the start of the year. We could have expected higher figures for this new generation, but the semiconductor crisis has a direct impact on Renault’s production lines, which are not running at full capacity. Another entry in the ranking, that of the Audi Q4 e-tron. This premium cousin of the ID.4 is half as good as the Volkswagen with 530 registered registrations. But he takes advantage of his Sportback version to grab 381 additional registrations. Finally, the MG Marvel R will need superpowers to catch up with the volumes of its big brother, the MG ZS, with 440 and 1,563 registered registrations respectively.
They leave the ranking
These new features pushed several models out of the rankings: the Seat Mii city car (which is no longer available in the catalogue), but also the Kia e-Soul, Mazda MX-30 and Ford Mustang Mach-E SUVs, which do not reach the 381 registrations marking the bottom of the top 30. Disappointment also for the DS 3 Crossback E-Tense which tumbles 10 places to 28e position with an accumulation of only 445 registrations. As for the Smart Fortwo EQ, its sales figures (601 registrations) do not allow it to hope for a jump at the end of its career. Customers would wait the SUV #1, planned for 2023?
